Cutting height

Every grass has a height it likes

Cutting too short is the most common reason Dhaka lawns turn yellow and patchy. Grass needs enough leaf to feed its roots, and in April’s heat a scalped lawn simply burns. We never take off more than a third of the blade in one cut.

Before the first visit we identify your grass and note the right height in your job card, so every crew member who comes after sets the mower the same way.

Heights are a guide. Newly laid turf and shaded areas are cut higher for their first few months.

Grass and hedges in Bangladesh follow the rain, not the calendar on your wall. This is the rhythm our crews work to. August 2026 is peak growing time, so fortnightly mowing is the minimum.

Shapes that suit the plant, not just the shears

A hedge should be slightly wider at the base than at the top — a gentle ‘A’ shape. That lets light reach the lower leaves, so the hedge stays thick right down to the ground instead of going bare and twiggy. We use a string line for long boundary hedges so the top is level along the whole run.

Flowering shrubs are different. Ixora, bougainvillea, hibiscus and jasmine flower on new growth, so we cut them right after a flush of flowers, never just before.

  • Rounded and cone-shaped shrubs in beds and pots

  • Palms cleaned of dead fronds and seed stalks
  • Tall hedges up to 3.5 m with ladders and pole trimmers

Lawn & hedge questions

How often should my lawn be cut?

Every 10–14 days from June to September, and every three to four weeks in the dry months. Our fortnightly plan covers most homes.

Can you cut when the grass is wet?

Light dampness is fine. After heavy rain we wait for the surface to drain, because cutting soaked grass tears it and leaves ruts.

My lawn has bare, yellow patches. Can you fix that?

Usually, yes. Most patches come from scalping, shade, waterlogging or ants. We find the cause first, then top-dress, reseed or re-turf.

Do you cut hedges that face the street or a neighbour’s side?

Yes, as long as we can reach safely. For the neighbour’s side, we ask you to let them know the date.
